Best MKF Prop Plays: EPL & Bundesliga Weekend

The sports world is slowly making its way back to action and soccer is the team sport that seems to have landed first in the post-virus world. Germanys’ Bundesliga has been going for a few weeks and England’s Premier League re-started this week.

Mercifully, this means some results to get in on with Monkey Knife Fight. Nothing like having a little something extra riding on the game’s results. Here are a few angles to consider when looking at this week’s action on the pitch.

FRIDAY

With the Premier League returning to action this week, Friday brings a competitive matchup between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, sitting fifth and eighth in the table, respectively. There are games Saturday, too, but none of them involve two teams of this quality.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Harry Kane LESS THAN 3.5 FANTASY POINTS

Tottenham’s star, Kane hasn’t been as dynamic offensively this season as he had been in the previous couple of campaigns but he still has 11 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season, including four in the past six games. He’s still very skilled but may be relying on an unsustainably high finish rate to carry his results.

Marcus Rashford MORE THAN 2.5 FANTASY POINTS

The 22-year-old rising star for Man U., Rashford has tallied 14 goals in 22 Premier League contests this season, including seven in the last eight games prior to the shutdown. If he can pick up where he left off, he’s a real threat to get on the board.

Son Heung-min MORE THAN 1.5 FANTASY POINTS

A well-rounded player, Heung-min has nine goals and a career-best seven assists in 21 Premier League matches this season. He was just taking off prior to the break. In the last three games, Heung-min had produced four goals and eight shots on target. It’s been a while since he picked up an assist (Match Week 16, December 7), but that’s still part of what he may contribute, so with a lower number here, it’s time to a for more.

Anthony Martial LESS THAN 1.5 FANTASY POINTS

The 24-year-old Man. U. forward has 11 goals in 23 Premier League matches this season, including three in four games before the break. He has just three assists and 28shots on target in the Premiership this season so it’s likely a goal or nothing to make or break his day. Try the conservative less than in this instance.

There is also a full docket of Bundesliga games scheduled for Saturday, but the Star Shootout allows you to focus your sights on the big names

SATURDAY STAR SHOOTOUT

MORE OR LESS Robert Lewandowski MORE THAN 3.5 FANTASY POINTS

Bayern Munich’s star striker, Lewandowski has 31 goals in 29 Bundesliga matches, a ridiculous scoring rate, and it’s only a little better than his 25.4 expected goals, so he may be riding a bit of a hot streak but a lot of those results are earned. Saturday’s opposition is SC Freiburg a middle of the table team in goals against, but second-worst in the entire Bundesliga in expected goals against, not a great combination going against the league’s top goal-scorer.

Timo Werner LESS THAN 2.5 FANTASY POINTS

The promising 24-year-old is bound for Chelsea, drawing much attention with 26 goals in 32 Bundesliga matches. However, Saturday’s opposition is Borussia Dortmund, a team ranking third in goals against and fourth in expected goals against this season, making them a tougher opponent than average.

Wout Weghorst MORE THAN 2.5 FANTASY POINTS

The Wolfsburg forward does have 14 goals in 30 Bundesliga contests this season, including three in the past three games. He has 14.6 expected goals on the season, so he’s a touch under that mark. Saturday’s opposition, Schalke is hovering around the middle of the table in goals against and expected goal against, so ride Weghorst’s recent hot streak and see if he can find the net once again.

Patrik Schick LESS THAN 2.5 FANTASY POINTS

In his first season with RB Leipzig, the 24-year-old has netted 10 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches. He has perhaps been a little fortunate, with 5.9 expected goals for the season and taking that record up against a strong Borussia Dortmund side could tilt this towards less than.
